Working from home. It’s something most of us dream of – being able to send emails from your living room in your pyjamas and endless cups of tea. As tempting as it can be to throw on your joggers and a jumper each morning, it is probably not the wisest of options. During these unprecedented times, if you are self-isolating or now working from home, it is crucial to hold on to some of the little things that we take for granted on a daily basis. This period may seem strange, almost alien to most of us but one way we can have a little normality in our lives is by putting our work clothes on in the morning and holding on to as much of our usual routine as possible.

Getting up in the morning and getting dressed helps us prepare for the day ahead, both mentally and physically. It’s understandable that you most likely don’t want to put a suit on every morning to stay indoors but there are ways you can look and feel smart with minimal effort and most importantly – maximum comfort. If a spontaneous conference call catches you off guard you want to be sure that you are still maintaining your professional and smart style. You certainly don’t want your boss to see those pyjamas you got last Christmas!

Here are some of our tips on how to stay smart, stay safe and stay comfortable when working from home. We truly are all in this together and we’re here for you. If you haven’t yet, sign up for our newsletter here and follow us on our social media channels to keep in touch. Stay safe everyone.

Your colleagues may only be able to see you from the waist up during a conference call but putting on a pair of smart trousers could be the final step in mentally preparing you for the day ahead. As the old age adage goes; dress for success. Our new range of trousers offer supreme all-day comfort – so comfortable that you almost would forget you are wearing formal trousers, take our word for it. Crafted from a blend of polyester and viscose, the trousers feature a pressed in front and back crease ensuring they will stay looking sharp for much longer. They also benefit from a button as well as a hook and bar fastening. The waistband features a hidden expanding flexi waistband with a 2” flexibility allowing you to relax and work in comfort. Available in a range of colours and designs, they will be the best addition to your home-office wardrobe.

Patterned Shirts

Let your personality shine through by wearing one of our patterned formal shirts. You can brighten up any day with a little colour and flair, and at times like these that is important for all of us. Our new season collection features bright and bold styles in a wide choice of patterns from stripes to floral to checks. The single cuff styles allow you to roll your sleeves up during the day to transform your formal wear into something a little more casual if preferred. These styles can be paired with our formal trousers, jeans or chinos – whatever you feel most comfortable in.

Casual shirts

If you want to mix things up a little and now have the opportunity to dress a more casual than you would at the office, our range of casual shirts should tick your boxes. After all, who says you can’t wear a tropical print shirt to your home office? Featuring a wide range of short sleeve styles, our casual Bar Harbour shirts are ideal to wear with jeans and a t-shirt underneath. The seasonal range is colourful, bright and stylish and the soft collars provide maximum comfort for a full day of working.

We’ve ticked all the boxes with formal wear, but what happens when 5 o’clock hits? Breaking up your day is important and creating a divide between work life and home life can be difficult when they are in the same place. Just as dressing for working from home is important, dressing for home is important too. So, once the laptop is closed and emails are signed off for the day, we suggest changing into something less formal and a bit more relaxed. Pop on one of our casual printed t-shirts and hooded jumpers for ultimate comfort.
